Hope in Despair?

Thoughts from Psalm 43

Why am I in despair?
The oppression presses in.
Why is my soul disturbed?
Mourning the loss of what might have been.
Hopelessness plagues me daily.
The worlds deceitful, unjust plans;
Captive to my thoughts that plague me.
These are not your ways, but man’s.
Send out your truth and light.
Dispel the dark; bring forth hope.
It beckons to me through the night.
Like heaven lowers me a Rope.
I shall again praise Him: my Helper,
The God of my strength and joy.
He vindicates me: my Saviour.
My countenance yet restored.

“Why are you in despair, O my soul?
And why are you disturbed within me?
Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.”

Psalm 43:5
